About me
About Me
I am a Junior Visual Communications major at the Unviersity of Delaware, with a minor in Interactive Media. I will achieve my BFA in May 2015. I recently traveled to Tanzania in January 2014 as a teaching assistant to Professor Jon Cox for Documentary Photography and Art For Social Change. I focused on photographing human relationships with wildlife and their environment. I became close with my safari guide, Maggie Duncan Simbeye, who is the founder of an NGO called the Dare Women's Foundation. I also photographed her in the field and working with students for promotional purposes for Dare. During summer 2014, I will be traveling to Peru with Jon Cox to work on his Ese'eja Hunter Gatherers of Peru Cultural Mapping Project. I will be assisting him in documenting the culture of the Ese'eja via photography and video. Upon returning to UD, we will work with a team to create a book and edited video on the Ese'eja. All profits from book sales will go to the tribe to help them keep their land.
Course Goals
1. Learn about the fundamentals of photography
2. See the world differently and think more creatively
3. Take better photographs with my phone
